Last weekend, I got the privilege to see the Järnvägsmuseet. Bless you? Its Swedens biggest railroad museum in Gälve, Sweden. Over 150 locomotives in perfect running condition. Check out the article I’ve written below. Thanks!

Sweden had a strategic train reserve up until the 90s they sold off some one ended up in Maine for a while. They parked a bunch of steam locomotives in salt mines in case the Soviets invaded and cut their power.

There was an interesting video, why on ww2 gun cameras did they go after trains so much? Given the vast amount ot material 1 train moved, knocking out 1 locomotive, would cause huge disruptions to the Germans logistics. Given how their logistics were so sensative to train movements, the effects would ripple down through factory production and troop movement.

Sounds like you need to get your caboose over to https://therailyard.kinja.com/

Enjoyed your blog post. There’s some great iron on display there.

Edit:  hadn’t noticed that’s how I got to this post in the first place.  Thought it was just through Oppo.  Anyway, carry on.
